Opening in Spring 2023, Cambrian College’s 5,600 square-foot performance testing facility will be the first of its kind lab in the Canadian post-secondary system.The BEVL will have the following functions:

A new state-of-the-art research-grade labarotary located at Cambrian College, the CASS can process a variety of sample types including rocks, drill cores, soils, sediments, water, and vegetation followed by either a complete characterization or a targeted analysis, dependent on the end goal. Specialized equipment includes:

  • Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometer (GCMS)
  • Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (ICPMS)
  • Ion Chromatography (IC)
  • High-Pressure Liquid Chromatography with Mass Spectrometer (HPLC)

The Discovery Lab is a design and pre-production center that develops electronic and mechanical products. Located within NORCAT in Sudbury, Ontario, the Lab is fully equipped to develop products of small to medium size (within approximately one cubic foot of space), as well as apps for iOS and Android.

OVIN RTDS Sites

As Ontario’s flagship initiative for the automotive and mobility sector, OVIN, the Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network, is driving economic development and catalyzing a future that builds safer, cleaner, and more efficient transportation.

The Regional Technology Development Sites (RTDS) support SMEs to develop, test and prototype their advanced automotive technologies and smart mobility solutions and tap into specific advice, expertise and knowledge around key focus areas for the sector.

The seven RTDS are located in Waterloo, Ottawa, Hamilton, Durham, Windsor-Essex, Toronto and the newly added Northern RTDS that includes Greater Sudbury, Thunder Bay, Timmins, Temiskaming Shores, Sault Ste. Marie and North Bay. Each regional site focuses on a unique aspect of the automotive and smart mobility sector, such as hardware, security, data analytics, critical minerals and more.
